Counseling Center
From the Counseling Center
Attendance
Attendance is one of the most important ingredients
for school success. We want students to be here every day for the
best learning experience. Parents of students who have excessive
absences are sent letters letting them know how much school their child
is missing. Parents are asked to contact the school to make a
plan to improve attendance. Also, if students have several days
home sick they should bring a note from their doctor when they return
to school.
Drug Use
It has been reported that some middle school students
are sniffing substances that can be very harmful to their health. Two
of the substances are permanent markers and finger nail polish remover.
There are many household chemicals that students can sniff or huff.
These chemicals can cause great harm to students health and can cause
death. Parents be sure to talk to your students about avoiding drug use.
Phone Numbers
Do we have your correct phone number? It is very
important that we are able to contact you in case of an emergency.
Please call the counseling center and let us know what you new phone
number is. If you do not have a phone, please give us the name and
number of someone we can call in case there is an emergency.

Locks and Lockers
- Lockers will be assigned to students at the beginning of the year.
- Students are not to share lockers or cause damage to the lockers.
-
Any locker change must be approved by the counseling center.
-
If the combination lock is lost, stolen or broken
there will be a $5.00 replacement charge. These locks are school
property and this will be enforced!
-
If lockers or combinations are shared with others, there is little security in a school locker.
-
Personal items of value should never be brought to
school. Examples: CD players, Gameboys, Cameras. Other
items that are not allowed in lockers are, perfume bottles, cologne
bottles, bottles of pop, water, juice, or anything made of glass or
that has a twist top.
-
Encourage your child to routinely clean out their
locker and bring home all clothing and materials not needed at
school.
All school lockers, desks, and computers are the property of Dawes
Middle School. At no time does Dawes Middle School relinquish its
exclusive control of lockers provided for the convenience of
students. Periodic general inspections of lockers may be
conducted by school authorities for any reason, at any time, without
notice, without student consent, and without a search warrant.
