Gifted Identification Information

Gifted Identification  -  Lincoln Public Schools

Students, parents, community members and teachers can nominate students for gifted identification.  The Dawes Data Gathering Team can identify gifted students using either Option I or II.

Option 1           Any two of the following:

  • Standardized Achievement Test Scores in the 9th stanine for
                                                      TR     Total Reading

            (Usually MAT scores)         TM    Total Math

                                                      LA    Language Arts

                                                      CB    All tests combined

  • Student Products or evidence of outstanding performance withsupporting data.     This can be submitted by staff, parents, peers, self and or   community members.
  • Past Performance      This usually includes high grades in classes, especially differentiated classes.
  • Teacher Observation   Evidence of high ability indicated on differentiated characteristics checklists.

Option 2        One of the following:

  • Full scale IQ score of     130 or above on Wechsler IV, or                                                   130 or above on the Stanford Binet V
  • Verbal Comprehension Index of 130 and a full-scale score of 120 or above
  • Perceptual Reasoning Score of 130 and a full scale score of 120 or above

Highly Gifted Identification          One of the following:

  • Full scale score of 145 or above on the Stanford Binet V or Wechsler IV
  • Verbal Comprehension Index  of 145 or above on either test
  • Perceptual Reasoning Index  of 145 or above on either test
